Former WWE Women’s Champion has made it clear that she will never return to the ring.

Wrestlers retire at a point in their career when they feel they’ve reached the pinnacle of success by achieving everything they set out to achieve, or when they can’t physically wrestle anymore.

The WWE is currently at a stage where many of the wrestlers on the roster are in their late 40s or early 50s, planning their retirement. But if history is anything to go by, many wrestlers later come out of retirement for another go-around. One former WWE and TNA star, though, is sure that she won’t come out of retirement, and that is Gail Kim-Irvine.

Kim had a memorable run in WWE, where she won the Women’s championship on her first match in 2002. She would go on to hold the title twice, but WWE’s product was more about having women as models than actual wrestlers. Frustrated with being underutilized, she later left the Stamford-based promotion to join TNA, where she had some of the most iconic feuds of her career, most notably with Awesome Kong.

Recently, a fan asked Kim on X/Twitter whether she could consider returning to the ring for a match against AEW’s Mercedes Mone (FKA Shasha Banks), to which Kim responded by saying that she doesn’t think the storytelling is good enough nowadays to put in the effort.

No one is doing good storytelling these days. For me to train for match cardio, that is a dedication. I wouldn’t do it for a throw away match.
