WWE Legend Returns To AEW, Knocks Out Trent Beretta
WWE legend Paul Wight has finally returned to AEW after almost a year.
Wight made a surprise return to Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling during the Saturday night Tailgate pre-show, which took place before Full Gear 2025.
His return involved joining the commentary team for the Tailgate Brawl tag match between Big Boom AJ & QT Marshall and RPG Vice.
He was not just there for words; Wight got physical during the match, helping Big Boom AJ and QT Marshall secure the victory by knocking out Trent Beretta.
Wight had been absent from AEW television since late 2024. His absence was mostly due to multiple knee and hip replacements, which required extensive recovery time.
Despite the long gap, Wight has emphasized in interviews that he’s still part of AEW, happy with his position, and not ready to retire from wrestling entirely.
Wight has been a part of the company since 2021 but has wrestled a total of five televised matches. He has mostly taken over commentary duties in the promotion.

Another WWE Legend Returned To AEW
WWE legend Jeff Jarrett also made his return to AEW recently. He made a surprise appearance at the Full Gear Zero Hour pre-show, where he joined RJ City and Renee Paquette as the pre-show hosts.
The last time the fans saw Jarrett was on January 29, 2025, when she suffered a singles loss to Claudio Castagnoli. The Full Gear 2025 event was held on November 22 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
There was one more surprise return that took place at Full Gear. After the show’s main event, where Samoa Joe beat Hangman Page to become the new AEW World Champion, Swerve Strickland made his surprise comeback.
He was absent due to a knee injury and had surgery a few months back. Following his return, he aligned with his former rival Page against Samoa Joe and his new associates.
