WWE Legend Kurt Angle Names Wrestler On Brink Of Superstardom

The ECW Legend Who Had Heat With WWE star Kurt Angle Over Infamous Segment

Kurt Angle has tipped a WWE star for greatness.

Having spent his entire career working with some of the greatest wrestlers in history, Kurt Angle is well-placed to give his thoughts on who might be next to stake their claim at the top of the industry.

During an interview with Casino.org ahead of WrestleMania, Angle was asked who he believes will be next to take WWE by storm. The WWE Hall of Famer suggested that Gunther is the next man up and he’ll soon have a stranglehold on the main event.

“I’ve got my sights on Gunther; I love that kid. He has a lot of talent, and I think he’s going to be the next breakthrough star, where he’s main event 24/7. He’s a solid technician, a great heel and I think he’s going to be the one we’re going to see a lot more of in the years to come in this business.”

Gunther On Why He Signed With WWE

Elsewhere in an interview of his own, Gunther broke down why he never signed with NJPW and instead joined WWE.

In the eyes of many seasoned observers, Gunther’s in-ring style would be a perfect fit for NJPW which makes it even more surprising that he never joined the company. According to the man himself, he feels that the slower Japanese approach to business meant a deal never came together, leading him to asses other options including NXT.

I guess, in general, the Japanese style of business, they move way slower, especially in the States. ‘I want things, and I want it now.’ They move a bit slower.

It would have happened sooner or later, but it was at the point where I maxed out what I could do before and financially maxed out. ‘I gotta make a move now.’ With NXT, I had a really good feeling.

It’s a different environment, and I could be there and exist there and keep growing there without necessarily having to make a step and go on the main roster.

Gunther will be back in the ring when he defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41.
