WWE Hall Of Famer Knows What Vince McMahon Likely Hated At WrestleMania 41
A WWE Hall of Famer who worked with Vince McMahon closely knows what the former boss would have hated at this year’s WrestleMania.
For the second year in a row, Vince McMahon had nothing to do with WWE WrestleMania 41. Even though Vince created WrestleMania and ran all of them for 38 years (with more of an advisory role at WrestleMania 39), the former WWE Chairman is no longer involved with the company.
Vince McMahon officially resigned from WWE in January 2024 when WWE owners TKO Group made him step aside due to a scandalous lawsuit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant against McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE.
That lawsuit by Grant accuses McMahon of sexually assaulting her and using her for sex trafficking. For more than a year, McMahon has claimed he is innocent while the two sides have been fighting in the courts about different tactics each side uses.
Besides his son-in-law Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who thanked him at this year’s WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, Vince is almost never mentioned by anybody in WWE.
Eric Bischoff Thinks He Knows What Vince McMahon Would Have Hated At WrestleMania 41
In the post-Vince McMahon era of WWE, advertisements are all around the ringside area, sponsors appear on the mats, and Logan Paul’s “Prime” beverage company is heavily featured at all shows. Vince strongly opposed these things, but TKO and current WWE showrunners like Nick Khan and Triple H see things differently.
WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff worked for Vince McMahon as an on-air talent in the 2000s and also briefly served as an Executive Director on Smackdown.
While speaking on a recent episode of his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff talked about things that would have bothered him, like the TNA World Champion Joe Hendry facing Randy Orton and also the presence of sponsors throughout the current product.
“My perception, and what I’ve been told about Vince, would suggest to me that he hated the Joe Henry spot. I think that the sponsorship and the mentions would be a distraction for Vince. That was obviously a thing for him and this is a guy who goes nuts when he sneezes in public because it represents to him a lack of self-control and discipline.
So for a guy who’s wired that way, to then see as much commercialization and product placement within his show that he hated, probably drove him bats**t crazy.”
