WWE’s Kevin Owens Has Strong Stance About Wrestling Fans At Airports

Kevin Owens believes in certain things when it comes to seeing WWE fans at airports.

As a pro wrestler with over 25 years of experience, Kevin Owens has traveled the world and met fans from everywhere. The last ten years of his career have been with WWE, and while the pay is likely very good, it also means they have to deal with excitable fans everywhere they go.

During his recent interview with Insight’s Chris Van Vliet, the former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens spoke at length about wrestling fans being a bit too aggressive in airports.

“There’s one that I wrote that I don’t think anybody has found yet. It says ‘Don’t follow us at the airport.’ And that’s one that people should take to heart. We love our fans, we really do. What I do now at airports is, I come and when they’re all waiting for their autographs, I just go, ‘I don’t sign at the airport, but I’ll gladly take a picture with you.’ And when I say that, 20 of them turn around.

They’re there to sell it on eBay. I don’t really have a problem with that. I just got to the airport. I’m either tired, or I’ve got to go to work. Like, when we get to an airport and its five or six people, okay. But nowadays, we get there; 40, 50 people. Like, they get around. You can’t even move. It’s very overwhelming for me. And I’ve seen it done to the girls. Some girls have told me, like, it gets almost scary.”

“They’re not trying to crowd somebody and make them feel, like, ‘Hey, this is too much.’ But when there’s 40 of you, that’s what happens. So what I suggest is just don’t come to the airport.”

Owens continued by talking about how some fans even buy plane tickets so they can get through security and get even easier access to wrestlers.

“Some of ’em have started buying tickets to get across security. So they meet us at our gates. And those guys, to me, are like, rotten. Like, if you do that, you’re an a**hole. And I told that to one of the guys recently, as I was walking by him. He was at our gate and he was trying to get me to sign. I go, ‘Nope.’

He goes, ‘Well Stone Cold doesn’t have a problem signing.’ I told him, ‘Okay, good for you.’ And he’s like trying to talk s**t ’cause he’s at an airport. So he can do it. He knows nothing’s gonna happen to him. He would never do that in the street, you know what I mean? But like, that just says a lot about the kind of people.”

Kevin Owens Adds More Context To His Wrestler Airport Opinions

Since a lot of fans saw the comments that he made, Kevin Owens shared more of his thoughts on X/Twitter as well.

To clarify: If you happen to run into me at an airport or wherever, really, feel free to come talk to me or ask for a picture or an autograph if you want and if I am in a position to oblige, I absolutely will.

If you come to the airport with a plastic bin full of merch and wait at baggage claim with 26 other people and get upset when I say I won’t sign but I’m happy to take a picture with you, go have intercourse with yourself.

A fan asked Owens a simple question: “Why take a pic but not sign?” Owens had a throughtful response on X for that too.

Because a picture takes a second.

Usually, the people that are there to sell the stuff we sign have a dozen things to sign.

I used to say “I’ll sign one” and still get attitude back or they’d get something signed and then come back again a few seconds later, hoping I didn’t pay close enough attention to who I was signing for and try to get something else signed.

It’s like anything else in life…the people that are cool and sensible end up paying the price because of the ones that are selfish pricks.

Taking a picture with everyone is my way of making sure the good ones still get something.

Kevin Owens is currently injured with a serious neck injury that will require surgery, which hasn’t happened yet. Owens is expected to miss up to a year of in-ring action or perhaps even longer than that, but there is optimism that he can wrestle again, most likely in 2026 at some point.
