WWE Keeping “Totally Quiet” On Rumoured Injury To Top Star
A new report has given an update on Jacob Fatu.
At SummerSlam, Jacob Fatu did everything he could to make sure Solo Sikoa took the Undisputed WWE Title from Cody Rhodes, but it wasn’t enough.
During a wild match contested under Bloodline Rules, Fatu launched himself from the top rope, driving Rhodes through the announce table. However, that dive came at a cost as he was immediately nursing his lower leg, and was eventually helped backstage by officials.
In the days after the event, Fatu was pictured in a protective boot but his injury status remains unclear.
To add further confusion, the star is one-half of the tag team champions with Tama Tonga. This has led to questions about how the gold will be defended going forward.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that the Tag Team Titles will be defended by whoever Solo Sikoa picks from The Bloodline.
Regarding the tag team titles, the current word from WWE is that the titles can be defended by any two people from the Bloodline that Solo Sikoa selects.
WWE Is Keeping Jacob Fatu Away From Roman Reigns
Meltzer went on to reiterate that WWE is determined to keep Jacob Fatu away from Roman Reigns for the time being. This in turn has created a grey area where it’s unclear as to whether Fatu is actually injured. Due to his position as the monster character on SmackDown, WWE is unable to highlight the true nature of any injury he might have suffered.
Things have remained quiet on Jacob Fatu. They don’t want him mixed in with Reigns at this point or selling big for him, and everyone has to sell big for Reigns right now. So he’s off due to being injured, but they aren’t making a big deal of his injury either as he’s supposed to be a monster. So they are low keying their angle.
They’ve kept totally quiet as to whether he’s actually hurt or what the situation is, but most if not all of this is a work and his not being around and intermixing with Reigns was all planned.
Roman Reigns is scheduled to appear on the August 16th edition of SmackDown after confronting Solo Sikoa seven days ago. The last episode went off the air with Sikoa shouting down to Reigns from the ramp after the former World Champion destroyed Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa.
