Ex-WWE Star Accuses John Cena Of Verbal & Emotional Abuse Backstage

John Cena gets accused of verbal and emotional abuse backstage.

It’s hard to picture Cena, who always has a calm and composed demeanor, lashing out at someone. But according to ex-WWE star David Otunga, it happened in around 15 years ago.

Speaking on his YouTube podcast, Otunga, a former member of The Nexus and ex-tag team partner of John Cena, claimed that during a WWE RAW House show in France in 2010, Cena verbally abused him for a botch during their match.

Otunga claimed that the botch was, in fact, made by Cena, but he had to soak up all the heat and humiliation backstage and keep his head down since he was a rookie at that time and couldn’t do anything about it.

Cena only got physical with me in the ring because when we came backstage, it was just verbal and emotional abuse in front of everybody. But he knew better than to put his hands on me then.

Imma tell you right now, if John Cena put his hands on me backstage, I would have beat the dog sh*t out of John Cena and fast. Actually, it probably would have been better if it was just a physical altercation, because at least I could have ended things quickly.

But the fact that it was just this verbal abuse, I couldn’t really do anything but take it. I’m a rookie, so I guess I just have to eat that and be humiliated in front of the entire locker room, the agents, the audience, and talked down to, disrespected, the undertones thrown around. (From 23:53)

Otunga posted an entire video dedicated to John Cena on his YouTube channel, where he discussed his experience working with The Last Real Champion in WWE. Some of the memories he shared were great, and some were so bizarre that they scarred him for life.
