WWE Planning John Cena Tournament For Final Match

WWE John Cena

John Cena’s final opponent might now be known, but it seems WWE has a plan in place to get to that match.

John Cena’s time is almost up as a WWE Superstar, with only a few matches left of his iconic career. Cena will clash with AJ Styles at Crown Jewel in his final Australian bout, with WWE trying to claim that fan power made that match, when that is not strictly true.

It’s been known for some time that Cena will hang up his boots at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th in Washington, D.C., and now it seems his opponent is known as well.

It’s been reported that John Cena’s final match will see him face Gunther. But it seems the company might have a plan in place to get to that match.

Tournament For John Cena’s Last Opponent

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that, according to WWE plans, a tournament could be held with the winner of that getting the honour of being John Cena’s last-ever opponent, and Gunther is the planned winner:

The plan as of this week was to do a tournament that Gunther would win to be Cena’s final opponent. It’s not etched in stone or anything. I haven’t seen brackets or anything like that, but that is the idea. And the match is on December 13th in D.C.

It remains to be seen who Cena will clash with between his match with Styles and his expected final bout with Gunther.
