WWE: John Cena Signs With Reality Show Company Leftfield Entertainment
Just hours before he takes the stage to host ESPN’s 2016 ESPY Awards, WWE superstar John Cena has inked a development deal with the reality show company, Leftfield Entertainment. This is the same company backing John Cena’s reality show on Fox, “American Grit.” The deal will provide opportunities for the 15-time World Champion for both online and television unscripted projects.
John Cena released a statement regarding his big signing:
“Whether I’m in the ring for WWE or on a TV or film set, I approach all of my work the same way — with focus, authenticity and total commitment. I’m eager to bring that same work ethic to the team at Leftfield, and to create new kinds of programming that can inspire and push people to be their best. I’m living proof of what you can accomplish when that happens.”
Cena will be given executive producing duties for all his new projects going forward, which includes a series centered on real estate and construction. The CEO of Leftfield Entertainment, David George talked about working with Cena saying, “There’s nowhere you can go with John Cena without eliciting respect, pure joy and excitement from everyone he meets.” (Deadline)
In addition to his WWE duties, Cena has been a part of E Network’s Total Divas since the beginning and will be a part of Total Divas as well with girlfriend Nikki Bella.
Mike’s Take: John Cena continues to establish himself as a mega-star outside of the ring. He may never reach the levels of Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson — who was just named the highest-paid actor in the world — but Cena is well on his way to cultivating a steady and lucrative life once he hangs up the wrestling boots. The more mainstream attention for the WWE the better, if you ask me. Congrats to him.
