WWE Isn’t Introducing New Championship
One rumoured WWE change has been taken off the table.
On January 6th, WWE Raw will debut on Netflix and the sports entertainment giant is pulling out all the stops to make the episode as memorable as possible. While it’s been rumoured that legends such as The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Shawn Michaels will be in attendance, several big matches have been confirmed.
This includes the huge clash between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa, with the pair set to meet in Tribal Combat.
Ahead of the match, there were also reports that WWE had held discussions about creating a Tribal Chief Championship, something akin to the People’s Championship held by The Rock. The news caused confusion among fans with many noting that Reigns and Sikoa are already fighting over the Ula Fala and leadership of The Bloodline.
New WWE Championship Off The Table
However, despite those discussions, it seems a Tribal Chief Championship won’t be introduced anytime soon. Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted simply that it isn’t happening.
Regarding reports of a new title being added called the Tribal Chief title, we’re told that’s not happening either. Now, will guys feud over the ula fala? Yes, obviously.
Elsewhere on January 6th, WWE will crown the first-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion. The tournament to decide the inaugural winner is currently at the semi-final stage with the matches set to take place on December 30th. In semi-final one, Dakota Kai takes on Zoe Stark, and in semi-final two, Lyra Valkryria meets Iyo Sky.
In the episode’s other headline bout, CM Punk goes one-on-one with Seth Rollins.
