WWE Is Witnessing An Internal Power Struggle, Says Ex-Champion

Triple H The Rock Nick Khan WWE

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H is rumored to be involved in a backstage power struggle.

In 2022, The Game succeeded Vince McMahon as head of Creative, assuming the position of WWE Chief Content Officer. Fans have since been divided over his work.

While some believe the 14-time world champion has been booking compelling storylines, others were massively critical of the current WWE programming.

On a recent episode of his The Stevie Richards Show, the former Hardcore Champion claimed the honeymoon period between Triple H and the WWE fans lasted between 2022 and 2024. He added that The Game has been getting significant heat over his booking in 2025.

The wrestling veteran suggested that tensions between The Rock, TKO, and Triple H backstage may have caused the change. He also wondered how much blame should be on The Game for the product being underwhelming.

What percentage of blame should be on Hunter and what percentage of blame should be on The Rock and TKO? We have obviously an internal power struggle way back to when Cody got bumped from WrestleMania and then brought back in. And it turned out to be like one of the best Royal Rumbles or WrestleMania runs that I can remember, with one of the best finishes of any WrestleMania in history. So, what I’m saying is we really have to be objective with spreading the blame and not just, ‘It’s cool to hate this dude.’ [15:25 onwards]

Stevie Richards Thinks Triple H Was Exposed In WWE

On the same episode of The Stevie Richards Show, the former Hardcore champion pointed out that not all top guys in any sport could become good coaches.

The wrestling veteran then claimed Triple H was exposed as “not being the best to book other talent” after the honeymoon phase of his era ended.

Some of the top guys, like top football players, make terrible NFL coaches. In other words, they know how they can play. They know how they can get over. They know how they are going to read defenses. Whatever analogy you want to use. Hunter and other people are proving that top guys aren’t always the best bookers and aren’t always, in fact, good bookers. You need outside influences.

People can write. This is really a situation that maybe maybe not in 2022 to 2024, where it was like the honeymoon phase of the Triple H era, but it is coming up really quick that he’s been exposed as really not being the best to book other talent. They can get themselves over all day long. So, what he’s saying is right. Hunter can always book himself, get himself over, book himself to win the titles, but when it comes to this era of wrestlers, it’s falling short.
