WWE Invading Indie Shows With New Title Tournament
WWE is bringing two new championships into existence and they’re invading independent shows to do just that.
It was announced in October 2024 that WWE was starting the WWE ID program. It was the company’s way of signing top independent pro wrestling talent to deals while those wrestlers continue to perform at independent wrestling shows.
The company has gone a step further by announcing that both men’s and women’s WWE ID Championships were going to be introduced. And now the tournaments to crown those champions have been announced as WWE invades two independent shows over WrestleMania week.
The WWE ID social media account revealed that the tournament will begin on GCW The Collective on April 16 before continuing on the Future Stars of Wrestling show on April 18.

WWE ID Talents Confirmed For Shows
Several WWE ID talents have already been announced for those shows but no matches have yet been confirmed for the tournament. It is also not known if ID talents will keep non-WWE-affiliated indie talent off these shows.
WWE has seemingly set conditions on ID matches however GCW owner Brett Lauderdale has claimed they are not correct. Lauderdale also noted his company does not promote ID talents as such despite being able to, whether that will extend to this tournament remains to be seen.
