WWE Interested In Bringing Back 4-Time Champion
WWE is looking to rewind its clock five years into history to bring back a superstar.
The former Intercontinental Champion is currently signed to Total Nonstop Action (TNA) as an authority figure.
The TKO-owned promotion may be keen to take advantage of its partnership with TNA, which allows both brands to swap talents to set up key storylines.
Santino Marella last wrestled in the Stamford-based company when he competed in the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble match as Santina Marella.
Often used as a comic relief, he defeated the late Umaga in his “spontaneous” debut match, becoming the IC Champion.
During his WWE stint, the 4-time champion also won the United States title and the tag team belts once each.
He was released in 2016 along with various wrestlers, although he was recovering from an injury. Since then, his appearances have been sporadic.
JoeyVotes and TC discussed Santino’s return to the company on the latest episode of WrestleVotes Radio on WrestleBinge. WWE has meanwhile not released any official statement.
The 51-year-old star also has a daughter who is signed with NXT, wrestling under the name Arianna Grace.
Santino Marella Sets History Away From WWE
Santino Marella is TNA’s Director of Authority and is often featured in backstage segments or segments involving match bookings.
His daughter has been with NXT for three years, but was appointed as the liaison between TNA and NXT in September 2024.
While she wrestles full-time on WWE’s black and gold brand, she has been seen in TNA multiple times.
The May 29, 2025, Impact! episode saw history being made, as Santino and Arianna competed in a mixed tag team match, becoming the first father-daughter duo to compete in TNA.
