WWE Make Huge Match To Find Gunther’s WrestleMania Challenger

Gunther will defend the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 40 and he won’t have to wait too much longer to find out who he’ll face.

Gunther has long past shattered the WWE record as the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time and now The Ring General is on the hunt for a contender to live up to his high standards.

Gunther’s original WrestleMania plans had to be scrapped as his planned opponent Brock Lesnar was pulled from all WWE creative after Lesnar was implicated in the disturbing lawsuit filed against Vince McMahon.

Gunther Could Face One Of Six WWE Stars

On Raw in San Antonio, Texas, General Manager Adam Pearce revealed that the March 11th edition of the show will see a massive gauntlet match take place with the winner getting a shot at the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania.

Ricochet, Chad Gable, Sami Zayn, Bronson Reed, JD McDonagh, and Shinsuke Nakamura will be the six men to take part in the match. The only stars in that group that Gunther hasn’t defeated already on TV during his record-breaking reign are Sami Zayn and JD McDonagh.

Gunther was in action on Raw in a non-title match against The Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio with the Intercontinental Champion picking up the win. During that match, WWE paid a surprising tribute to Sting after his final match in AEW.
