WWE Announce Huge Match To Crown Brand New Champion

A new WWE championship is coming and now fans know exactly when and how that title will be won.

During NXT Stand & Deliver, General Manager Ava announced the introduction of the Women’s North American Championship. Following the announcement Booker T said on commentary that he’d been waiting for a new title to be announced for “quite some time.”

At present there is only one women’s title in NXT after the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles were merged with the Women’s Tag Team Titles on the main roster back in June 2023.

WWE NXT Battleground Gets Six-Woman Ladder Match

On the second night of NXT Spring Breakin’, it was revealed just when and how that championship will be won. Ava revealed the title will be decided for the very first time at Battleground on June 9th. Not only that, the bout to decide the champion will be a six-woman ladder match.

On the May 7th episode of NXT television, a combine will be held to narrow down the field of competitors with the top 12 then going on to face off in six singles matches to decide the qualifiers for the title match.

When the men’s NXT North American Championship was introduced to WWE at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans in 2018, its first champion was also decided in a six-way ladder match. Ricochet, Killian Dain, EC3, Lars Sullivan, Adam Cole, and Velveteen Dream battled it out on that occasion with Adam Cole walking away with the gold.

NXT Battleground will be held in a unique location in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, June 9th.
