Did WWE Have Help Getting Jacob Fatu Cleared For Money In The Bank?
Jacob Fatu made his presence felt in the main event of WWE Money in the Bank thanks to some help.
In the main event of WWE Money in the Bank in Toronto, The Bloodline trio of Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga & Jacob Fatu defeated the super babyface trio of WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton & Kevin Owens.
Going into the match, there were legitimate questions about whether Fatu would be able to wrestle in the match. If he couldn’t then the “Infamous” Tonga Loa likely would have been in the match.
During the match, WWE announcer Michael Cole said that WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque had to pull some strings to get Fatu into Canada for the show.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer, there was some truth to the story because WWE did get a lawyer to help them.
“There was a story they used in storyline on Smackdown and the PPV that Paul Levesque had to personally pull strings to get Jacob Fatu in. Fatu legit was arrested at the age of 18 for an armed robbery and in fact it was while watching the Usos on television while serving time that got him interested in following them and his father into wrestling.”
“What we were told is that WWE used a high powered immigration law firm to get him cleared.”
That means there was some truth to what Cole said on television although he didn’t say the part about a “high power immigration law firm” being the reason that Jacob was on the show.
Jacob Fatu’s father is a former wrestler known as The Tonga Kid aka Sam Fatu. Jacob is the nephew of WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi, which makes him the first cousin of The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) and Solo Sikoa, who is leading Jacob in the current iteration of The Bloodline.
What Is Jacob Fatu’s Record In WWE So Far?
The impressive thing about that Money in the Bank match is that it was also Jacob Fatu’s first WWE match and he was in the main event of a major Preimium Live Event as well.
For the July 12th edition of WWE Smackdown, the company is promoting The Bloodline making an appearance to celebrate Solo Sikoa pinning WWE Champion Cody Rhodes in the six-man tag team match they had at Money in the Bank last week.
