WWE Heel Breaks Character To Address CM Punk & AJ Lee
CM Punk and AJ Lee reunited professionally earlier this year when Lee made her return to WWE.
One of the stars who was the happiest with Lee’s return to WWE was Roxanne Perez.
She has publicly described them as family figures, calling herself their “wrestling daughter.”
Roxanne Perez Says CM Punk And AJ Lee Are “Awesome To Be Around”
In a new interview with Going Ringside, Roxanne Perez, who is a heel on WWE TV, broke her character to talk about her idols, CM Punk and AJ Lee.
She stated that she grew up watching the real-life couple’s wrestling storylines and now turns to them for advice backstage.
“The storylines that they created were some of my favorite to watch growing up. So to now have them there, and for them to just be people that I can turn to whenever I need advice or need help or anything… yeah, they’re just—they’re amazing.”
“Oh, it definitely went well. And I tell them that a lot, where I’m like, ‘Thank you for making that quote ‘never meet your hero’ so untrue,’ because they’re just awesome. They’re just awesome to be around.”
Perez got a chance to experience a significant moment in her WWE career when she shared the ring with her wrestling father.
She attacked Punk with her Pop Rox move at a WWE live event in August 2025 while trying to help her Judgment Day stablemate, Dominik Mysterio.
After the attack on the Second City Saint, she then tagged AJ Lee on social media, saying, “Hi mom @TheAJMendez,” to which Lee replied, “My daughter has never done a single thing wrong in her entire life.”
