WWE Star Was Happy To Be Hit In The Face During Royal Rumble
A WWE superstar was glad they were hit in the face during a particular moment in a Royal Rumble match.
It has been a great start to Lyra Valkyria since the WWE Raw superstar made history by becoming the first-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion.
Valkyria tried to carry that positive momentum into the Royal Rumble, but unfortunately for her, she had a memorable moment that won’t be celebrated.
In the Women’s Royal Rumble match, Lyra Valkyria was the fourth woman to enter. After nearly tossing IYO SKY over the top to eliminate her (Sky held on), Lyra’s top came down and she had a wardrobe malfunction.
The good thing for Lyra is that veteran former WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan was in the match, she saw the issue that Lyra was dealing with and Liv punched Lyra to knock her down. This allowed Lyra a chance to go down by the turnbuckle where a referee helped Valkyria with her wardrobe issue and Valkyria was fine for the rest of the match.
During an interview with the Battleground Podcast, Valkyria talked about what that moment was like with the wardrobe issue during the Women’s Rumble match.
“Of course, it would be in the Royal Rumble—my biggest show ever. Why not? My top just had to fall off.”
Valkyria joked: “I’ve never been so happy to be hit in the face.”
Lyra Valkyria Is Proud To Be WWE’s First Women’s Intercontinental Champion
As the interview continued, Valkyria spoke about how she did the best she could in the match after the wardrobe issue scare.
“It was completely out of my control, so I just handled it the best way I could. You can’t let stuff like that throw you off. At the end of the day, I got to run that ramp as the Women’s Intercontinental Champion—pretty cool moment.”
Next up for Valkyria is a huge match on the January 10th episode of Raw when she faces Bayley in a match where the winner will qualify for the Women’s Elimination Chamber match.
