There are some big name WWE Hall of Famers that will be in town for the Royal Rumble.
It has been reported by PWInsider Elite that Rey Mysterio and The Undertaker will be in the Tampa Bay area for the Royal Rumble next Saturday, January 27th.
Rey Mysterio is a WWE Hall of Famer who has been out of action for about two months. Rey was attacked by his former LWO ally Santos Escobar. The report from PWI Elite notes that there is no word if he’ll be appearing on camera or not.
When talking about his injury on K100 with Konnan and Disco Inferno in December, Rey gave a timeline for when he would return.
“I’ve been favoring the right knee for the left one and finally, I tore the meniscus on my right knee. It’s six to eight weeks. I’m in week four. I’m getting a personal trainer at the beginning of the year that’s going to work with me just so I can work on my lower body and strengthen up my hips, my quads, my legs in general so I can resist.”
“I’ve never had a personal trainer that can train me, kind of like UFC fighters train, so I can use most of my power from the hips down.”
The six to eight-week timeline was when Rey had the surgery in mid-November. It’s about two months later now, so Rey could be ready to return, perhaps in the Royal Rumble match.
Rey Mysterio, who is 49 years old, signed a new WWE contract in late 2023 that was reportedly for three more years meaning he’ll still be competing in a WWE ring into his early 50s.
The Undertaker And Michelle McCool Also At WWE Royal Rumble
Two other names that will likely be at the Royal Rumble, according to PWInsider Elite, are WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker and his wife Michelle McCool. While McCool is not a Hall of Famer yet, she will probably get in there some day.
The Undertaker will be in the Tampa Bay area because he’s doing his one man show telling stories on the day after the Royal Rumble in Tampa. As for McCool, she was in the last two Women’s Royal Rumble matches and had impressive showings.
In the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble, McCool was sitting in the crowd and competed in the match in non-traditional wrestling gear without missing a beat.
