WWE Hall Of Famer Compares Vince McMahon To Darth Vader
A WWE Hall of Famer was scared of Vince McMahon.
It’s no secret that Vince McMahon ruled WWE with an iron fist, and whatever he said went. The former Chairman trusted the opinion of very few close associates, and even then, he was known to change creative plans on a whim.
One man who knows McMahon better than most is tag team legend D-Von Dudley. The veteran worked for McMahon across several spells with WWE both as an in-ring talent and as a producer.
During an interview with Action Network, D-Von said that McMahon certainly carried an “aura” about him, comparing the disgraced former WWE boss to Darth Vader.
Vince was a very powerful man for so many years, and when you meet Vince, he has a certain aura about him, and everybody says that. It’s something that I really haven’t seen in a lot of people. It’s kind of like the President of the United States.
I heard that; I never met him. But former President Barack Obama basically had that type of presence. I heard when he walked into a room, how he would fill it, and the charisma would just come out.
I think Vince McMahon had a Darth Vader type of aura about him where people feared him, as opposed to a charismatic personality. It was as soon as he walked into that room, it was like Darth Vader.
When I first met him I was petrified. I was 23, 24. So I was petrified when I first met him. This man I’d looked at on TV all my life, and everything he has accomplished and done. And now I’m working for the man. It was a very powerful thing for me.
Vince McMahon Isn’t Working With Fox Sports
In recent weeks, rumours emerged that Vince McMahon was potentially looking to return to wrestling and had even been sounding out people who had shot wrestling in the past. This was followed by speculation that Fox Sports could be involved in the new venture.
However, Fox Sports issued a quick denial, confirming they wouldn’t be involved with any new project linked to McMahon.
In January 2024, Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis, alleging sex trafficking and sexual abuse. Shortly after the filing was made, McMahon stepped down from his role with the TKO Group, while Laurinaitis had already left WWE.
The lawsuit is ongoing.
