WWE Hall Of Famer Dismisses Fan Theory On Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes WWE

A WWE Hall of Famer has dismissed claims that the company is holding Cody Rhodes back.

When John Cena pinned Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41, he handed the American Nightmare one of the most crushing defeats of his career.

Since WrestleMania 40, Rhodes has reigned supreme, defeating all challengers and standing tall over the company as Undisputed WWE Champion. But that run was brought to a devastating end by a mixture of Cena and Hip Hop star Travis Scott.

To add to the interest around Rhodes, he hasn’t been seen on television since disappearing into his tour bus after the show. But despite that absence, a fellow former World Champion sees no cause for alarm.

JBL Laughs Off Theory About Cody Rhodes

Following that devastating loss to Cena via a Travis Scott assist, and Rhodes’ subsequent hiatus, some fans have suggested that he’s being buried. However, Hall of Famer JBL couldn’t disagree more.

When it was put to Layfield on Something To Wrestle With that Triple H was burying Rhodes, the veteran had a sarcastic response.

“Oh my god, yeah, yeah. I remember back, in the day, as they say, when we’re burying Daniel Bryan, he was on five episodes every single Monday night, Raw in Smackdown. Boy, that’s burying him. I wish you would bury me too,”

JBL explained that it’s a simple case of WWE rotating top talent and ensuring Rhodes has as much longevity at the top of the industry as possible. He added that burying Rhodes would be ridiculous, given how popular he is and his importance to the company.

Cody been on everything. You got to cycle him in and out… for their longevity. Cody’s going to be fine. He’s he spearheaded the most profitable era in wrestling history. They’re not bury nothing for that cash cow,”

According to a recent report, despite hints from The Rock, WWE has no plans to turn Cody Rhodes heel, and he’s primed for a big storyline as a babyface when he does return to action. It’s been widely reported that Rhodes will return to television at or around Money In The Bank on June 7.
