WWE Hall Of Famer Expects To See The Rock At WrestleMania

The Rock

WWE Hall Of Famer Eric Bischoff believes The Rock will still appear at WrestleMania.

The status of ‘The Great One’ for WrestleMania is still unknown, with long-speculated bouts against Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns seemingly shelved for now after the former WWE Champion embraced both men during the Netflix debut of Raw on 6th January.

Speculation has suggested that additional filming for the live action version of Moana will prevent the 52 year-old from appearing in WWE during the run up to the company’s top Premium Live Event, which is set to emanate from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on 19th and 20th April.

Speaking during a recent episode of his popular podcast, 83 Weeks, former Executive Director of SmackDown Bischoff remained optimistic, however, that The Rock would make his presence felt in Las Vegas:

“I don’t see it. The guy just bought almost 100,000 shares of TKO stock. You think he’s not gonna try to move a needle any time he’s got the opportunity? I don’t think so. I think he loves this, there’s no downside.

Now, if he’s got a movie project and he’s contractually not able to participate in WrestleMania, I get that. That’s business. But unless that’s the case, I wouldn’t be so quick to write anything off at this point.”

Bischoff would go on to praise the recent efforts of WWE creative and insisted that they would be able to make it work should The Rock become available at the last minute:

“I think the level of storytelling and the confidence in the creative approach, lot of little Easter eggs that I saw, or perhaps I wanted to see, which is kind of fun.

That’s one of the things that makes wrestling so much fun, as compared to other forms of entertainment. When it’s done well, it’s very unpredictable, and surprises, and plot twists and the little Easter eggs.

There’s so much out there right now that I would manage my expectations and enjoy the ride because I think anything’s possible at this point. I think they’ve got the creative horsepower to pull just about anything off.”

The Rock Leads NXT To Highest TV Audience In 5 Years

After a successful appearance on Raw on 6th January, The Rock would go on to make his first appearance on NXT the following night.

The Rock had a backstage segment with his daughter Ava during the broadcast and headlined the evening’s show with a promo segment that helped NXT to it’s highest television audience since September 2019.
