WWE Hall Of Famer Gives Thoughts On Talented But “Complex” Bobby Lashley

Bobby Lashley

A WWE Hall of Famer thinks Bobby Lashley could be a success in AEW or TNA.

On September 11th it was reported that Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and MVP had been in talks with AEW. Lashley has been a free agent since letting his WWE contract expire in August, ending a six-year run with the company.

In recent weeks, MVP has been trademarking several phrases and names for wrestling use, while a group listed as Totally Harmless Concept LLC filed to trademark “The Hurt Syndicate.” Lashley, MVP, Benjamin, and Cedric Alexander were famously known as The Hurt Business while with WWE.

Although many fans expect the trio to land in AEW, a deal is yet to be announced. Alexander will miss the potential reunion after re-signing with WWE.

Jim Ross Shares Thoughts On Bobby Lashley

During a recent episode of his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross said Lashley would be an asset to every company, but suggested he has a tendency to overthink things.

“Bobby’s hard to figure, he’s a complex guy. Talented, yes. Looks phenomenal,” he said. “It’s hard to say. Bobby, like I said, is very complex. He’s a different cat. He’s smart and sometimes smart people have a tendency to overthink things. If Bobby’s not in overthink mode, which I have no idea, I haven’t talked to him in years — if he approaches that way, he’ll do good.

He’ll do really good because he’s going to be desirable. Like you said, Japan is an option. I don’t know the market is there, it’s not like it used to be, but you still can make a decent payday. Scott D’Amore could use Bobby Lashley, I think AEW could use Bobby Lashley.

But it’s all a matter of the cash that you got to invest to get the talent on site and the creative that you’re going to use to utilize it.”

Following the reports and speculation, Bobby Lashley said that while he can’t control his future, he’s focusing on being prepared. The former World Champion hasn’t wrestled since suffering an injury in a match at a live event in France against Santos Escobar.
