WWE Hall Of Famer Reveals Sycho Sid Tipped Him After Squash Match

Sycho Sid WWE Champion

Sycho Sid went out of his way to help a young star long before they landed in the WWE Hall of Fame.

On August 26th, it was announced that Sid Eudy, better known to wrestling fans as Sycho Sid and Sid Vicious had passed away following a battle with cancer. Eudy was 63 years old.

Since news of his passing broke, wrestlers past and present have been lining up to share their memories of the star who touched the lives of so many.

As the outpouring of love and respect has washed over social media, a clip from a February 2024 interview featuring Rob Van Dam has been shared far and wide.

In the conversation with Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Van Dam recalled facing Sid alongside Scott Casey in a match on The Wrestling Challenge in March 1992. At the time, Van Dam was just two years into his wrestling career, but that didn’t stop Sid from showing appreciation for his work.

“Anyway, I had the match, and I got to tell you my memories of that. I knew Bruno [Harvey Wippleman] was managing him and I knew Bruno from the Memphis days, that was my in. He introduced me to Sid before the match and everything, I’m thinking maybe that’s why Sid was so cool, I don’t know.

After the match, Sid came up to me and he said, ‘Hey brother, I really appreciate what you did in there, doing the job in there. I know it is not necessarily cool getting beat like that, but what you did helped me out, and you brought me from here up to here. That’s where I want to be because I want to wrestle Hulk Hogan.’”

Van Dam added that Sid actually tipped him $20 as a way of saying thank you, something he couldn’t recall anyone else doing.

“He said I really appreciate what you did, and then he gave me $20. He said I know it’s not much but hopefully, it will get you down the road a little bit. Scott Casey told me that he did the same for him, and I can’t remember another wrestler tipping me like that ever in my career. So that was amazing, super cool.”

Sycho Sid’s Son Thanks Fans For Their Support

Meanwhile, Gunnar Eudy has paid tribute to his late father in a short statement on social media.

He wrote that despite being diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in April 2021 his father continued to live life to the fullest, leaving behind a legacy of “strength and determination.” Gunnar went on to thank fans for their messages of support.
