WWE Hall Of Famer Stopped AEW Star Using Their Famous Finisher

WWE Hall Of Famer Responds To Accusations That They Politicked Their Way To World Title

A top AEW star didn’t get the response they were hoping for from a WWE Hall of Famer.

The relationship between a wrestler and their finishing move is often an almost sacred thing. And if all goes well, that move will become synonymous with the wrestler in question for decades to come.

Steve Austin had the Stunner, The Undertaker had the Tombstone, Bret Hart had the Sharpshooter, and Diamond Dallas Page had the Diamond Cutter.

Although Randy Orton uses a version of DDP’s cutter for the RKO, and QT Marshall uses a version in AEW, the move remains forever linked with the WCW legend, and he was seemingly determined to keep it that way.

During an appearance on Hey! (EW) with RJ City, Marshall claimed MJF asked DDP if he could use the move and he said no.

“I actually enjoy when people say the diamond cutter handed down from Diamond Dallas Page because people hate it. They hate that of all the professional wrestlers in the world, he chose me. So, I want to keep putting that out to the world. So… for those fans out there watching, DDP chose me. Could have been MJF, could have been anyone else. He chose me. In fact, MJF asked for it, and he said no.”

QT Marshall Confirms Talks With WWE

Back in November 2023, QT Marshall announced he was leaving AEW amid speculation that he’d become increasingly unhappy with the promotion’s creative direction.

However, come February, Marshall was back with the company as a Vice President, but not as an in-ring talent. Although he remained free to wrestle elsewhere, except WWE.

During a recent interview, QT Marshall confirmed he held with WWE during time away from AEW, but said he was “rubbed the wrong way” during the conversation. The star added that by the time he spoke with WWE, he had already indicated to Tony Khan that he’d like to return to AEW.
