Why WWE Hall Of Famer Would Pick Steve Austin Over The Rock

The Rock Steve Austin

The Rock and Steve Austin are still a big talking point.

There’s never a shortage of stars in wrestling, but in every generation, there are one or two names that will stand above all others for the rest of time. Step forward, The Rock, and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

The top of the card in the Attitude Era was stacked, but Rock and Austin stood on a whole other level.

Their rivalry is still beloved more than 20 years later, while their trio of matches at WrestleMania stand among the very best.

Steve Austin Beats The Rock

While discussing the two legends on Busted Open, Mark Henry said he’d pick Austin over The Great One. For Henry, Austin’s character was more relatable to fans, meaning that he connected with them like no one else.

He added that Austin’s influence is still being felt today, more than two decades after his retirement from full-time action.

I’ll take Stone Cold, because the working man bought into the character too, bought into the gimmick.

The guys wanted to go to work and kick their boss’s ass, they really couldn’t.

So they had to live vicariously through Steve every week, telling his boss, walking up, ‘Hey Vince, how you doing?’ ‘Well how you doing Steve?’ (Middle finger) And everybody would be like, ‘Oh s**t.’

Steve had an influence on people that still lives today.”

Back in September, it was reported that WWE was looking to get Steve Austin back in the ring for WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia. There’s also been talk that The Rock could compete in the main event as the company looks to stack the card for the first-ever WrestleMania outside of North America.

According to one report, if The Rock does wrestle, he’ll land the biggest single payday in wrestling history.
