WWE Hall Of Famer Slams The Canadian Destroyer, Questions Its Credibility
WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has expressed his dislike for the popular wrestling move, the “Canadian Destroyer,” questioning its effectiveness as a finisher.
Speaking on his Kliq This podcast, the former WWE Champion admitted he finds the move visually confusing, as it appears to affect both wrestlers equally, making it unclear who should be selling the impact.
“The Canadian Destroyer, every time somebody hits that, I never know who’s f**king supposed to sell it. It looks like it f**ks up both people, you know? I was like, ‘So who’s selling? Oh, f**k, the person on top is selling. Oh, okay!’”
The Canadian Destroyer, a flipping piledriver, was made famous by Petey Williams in TNA, though it is believed to have been originally created by Puerto Rican wrestler Amazing Red with input from Quiet Storm. Over the years, the move has become a signature of high-flying wrestlers across multiple promotions, often used as a dramatic highlight in fast-paced matches.
However, despite its widespread popularity, the move has frequently been criticised by veteran wrestlers. Many argue that it looks unrealistic due to the level of cooperation required between both competitors to execute it properly. Nash’s remarks echo a common sentiment among older generations of wrestlers, who generally prefer more traditional and impactful finishing moves.

Kevin Nash spoke about the topic of WWE Royal Rumble surprise entrants and who was his favourite surprise entrant. The Royal Rumble often sees surprise returns of former legends and Nash jokingly spoke about his own surprise return as his former character Diesel and said, in a tongue in cheek manner, that Diesel’s return was his favourite ever.
