Sika Anoa’i has passed away.
WWE Hall of Famer Sika Anoa’i has passed away aged 79. Sika is best known as one half of the legendary tag team The Wild Samoans, alongside his brother Afa. Sika is also the father of current WWE star Roman Reigns.
The sad news was confirmed by Sika’s nephew Jahrus on Instagram.
It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of Former Hall of Famer, Polaivao Leati Sika Anoa’i. He passed away peacefully on June 25th. Sika was a celebrated figure whose contributions and legacy have left an indelible mark. His memory will live on through his achievements and the many lives he touched.
He was many things: a hard working father, a caring brother, a supportive uncle, and a proud grandfather. He was a cherished friend to many, a loving family member whose warmth and kindness knew no bounds, and an inspiration to countless individuals. Sika Anoa’i Found Fame In WWE
Afa and Sika made their debut as The Wild Samoans in 1973 with Stampede Wrestling and competed across several NWA territories winning multiple tag team championships for the remainder of the 70s.
The pair signed with the WWF in 1980 and won the World Tag Team Championship twice before heading to New Japan Pro-Wrestling a year later. Sika returned to the WWF on two more occasions, first alongside Afa in 1983 when they won the Tag Team Titles, and later as a singles wrestler in 1986.
Sika left the WWF in 1988 and competed in a handful of matches on the independent scene before retiring in 1991.
The Wild Samoans were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.
