WWE Hall Of Famer Shares How They Tore Quad Simply Walking Down Stairs

WWE Hall of Famer Greg “The Hammer” Valentine has opened up about the most severe injury he suffered in his nearly five-decade career.

Despite competing at the highest level in NWA, WCW, and WWE, Valentine disclosed that his worst injury did not occur in a high-stakes main event but rather at a smaller independent wrestling show. During an appearance on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Valentine reflected on his long career, largely free from major injuries, before revealing the unexpected moment that left him seriously hurt.

“All the time in NWA, WCW, and WWF, I never got hurt that bad, but then I did a show, it was an independent show in Chicago, and Hulk Hogan was on it. He wasn’t wrestling, he was signing autographs, and it was me and Beefcake against The Nasty Boys.”

Valentine explained that the injury happened in an unexpected way—not in the ring, but while making his entrance.

“They had these weird steps, and I went to step down and missed a step. I tore my knee and I tore my quad on my right side.”

Despite enduring gruelling schedules and competing in physically demanding matches for decades, it was this seemingly routine moment at an independent event that left him with one of the most painful injuries of his career.
