WWE Hall Of Famer On Renewed Popularity Of Scissoring In Wrestling

Anthony Bowens Billy Gunn chair scissoring

Everyone loves The Acclaimed and everyone loves scissoring it would seem including a WWE Hall of Famer with a close affinity of their own to scissors.

2022 has been a year filled with major wrestling stories and controversies. Cody Rhodes leaving AEW and rejoining WWE, Steve Austin coming out of retirement to headline WrestleMania 38, the MJF saga, the backstage fight at All Out, and of course the investigation into and subsequent retirement of Vince McMahon.

But perhaps the thing that nobody saw coming in the wrestling world in 2022 would be the most popular catchphrase of the year being “Scissor me Daddy Ass!” but here we are.

AEW World Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn have introduced the world to their particular brand of scissoring and Tony Khan agrees that it’s a great way to greet someone. The resurgence of scissors being involved in wrestling has brought joy to one former WWE Superstar who is no stranger to the implement – Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake.

Speaking on Good Karma Wrestling, Brutus Beefcake lauded the return of scissors to the wrestling mainstream, although he’s glad that the AEW stars are not using them for barbering purposes:

“It’s a big compliment for me because at least they aren’t trying to be a barber. The scissors are just so over and so powerful that you can’t hardly blame them for wanting to bring them back and utilize them.”
