A popular figure will return at a famous WWE special.

It’s been announced that WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event will return on December 14th at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, New York. In a nice piece of trivia, that’s the same venue that hosted the first-ever episode of the show in 1985.

Saturday Night’s Main Event launched in 1985 before being retired in 1993. It was brought back in 2006, but amid falling ratings and interest, it was shelved for a second time in 2008.

It’s now been reported that a link to the event’s glory days will be appearing in New York.

Jesse Ventura To Make WWE Return

One man with close ties to the Saturday Night’s Main Event name is Jesse Ventura. The star was a central figure on the original run of specials while working on commentary.

According to a new report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there are plans for him to appear on the show on December 14th.

Right now there are plans for Jesse Ventura on the show. The role is to be determined. Right now the idea is for him not to announce the entire show, perhaps an interview segment or announcing a match but the idea now is simply for him to be part of the show for nostalgia reasons.

The report comes after Greg Gagne recently claimed that Ventura would be involved on the show. Meanwhile, Ventura has recently confirmed he’s signed a Legend’s deal with the company after spending several years out of the fold.

Ventura suggested that Vince McMahon’s departure played a huge role in his desire to return.
