WWE Hall Of Famer Rules Out Final Match With John Cena

John Cena on WWE Raw

A WWE Hall of Famer has ruled out being part of John Cena’s retirement match.

At Money In The Bank, John Cena announced that he will be retiring in 2025. However, before he hangs up his boots for good, the 16-time World Champion will embark on a lengthy retirement tour that will see him make more WWE appearances than he has in years.

One man who won’t be part of the festivities is Kurt Angle. Angle was Cena’s first opponent on the main roster back in 2002, and the pair went on to battle throughout the mid-2000s, often with the WWE Heavyweight Title on the line.

While Angle would love to be part of Cena’s retirement, during an interview with Chris Van Vliet he admitted he can’t wrestle anymore. The Hall of Famer explained that he recently took part in a match for an NFL commercial, but things didn’t turn out well for him.

“No, I can’t wrestle anymore. Actually, you know what I did? I did wrestle about two months ago. I did a commercial for CBS, and it was for the NFL pre-game for the [Baltimore] Ravens and [Pittsburgh] Steelers. So me and a gentleman named Kyle Brandt, he’s a sportscaster for CBS, he pretended he was the Ravens and I pretended I was the Steelers. We had a pro wrestling match and I was bumping.

“No, no, no [there’s no chance of Angle wrestling again]. Because what happened was, I threw my back out. And I couldn’t walk for a week after that. My wife was like, you’re never getting in that ring again. And she’s right. I shouldn’t have even got in the ring, but it was a lot of fun to do it.

“But I would love to wrestle John Cena. There’s nobody that wants to wrestle John more than I do for his retirement match, especially with the respect I have for him. I just can’t do it.”

While he can’t wrestle Cena, Angle says he would be open to making an appearance with him during his retirement tour.

“Yeah, that could be possible. If they need me to do something like that, you know, that’s cool.”

Former John Cena Opponent Wants One More Match

While Angle is out of the picture, fellow Hall of Famer JBL wants to get in the ring with John Cena one more time. The star “thinks the world” of Cena and is happy to have been part of his formative years in the wrestling business, so “of course” he wants another match before the Doctor Of Thuganomics retires.
