WWE legend Glenn Jacobs, better known to fans as Kane, shared intriguing insights into the unexpected longevity of his iconic character.
During a 2018 appearance on Chris Jericho’s Talk is Jericho podcast, Jacobs revealed that Kane was originally envisioned as a short-term storyline addition. Debuting in October 1997, Kane burst onto the WWE scene as a menacing and enigmatic figure, intricately linked to The Undertaker’s dark backstory. According to Jacobs, the character’s role was intended to be fleeting.
WWE was looking for an opponent for The Undertaker, they needed someone for an upcoming pay-per-view. I was supposed to be just one and done, but Vince McMahon loved the idea so much and really got invested in it.

Kane spoke about what was the most painful injury he sustained during his time with WWE and said that when he was superplexed by The Big Show during a triple threat match between him, Show and Shawn Michaels, he felt like he had been hit with a baseball bat in his kidneys and he had to be taken to hospital to have an MRI scan. Thankfully for Kane, there was no serious damage.
