WWE Hall Of Famer Reveals Real Reason Why John Cena Turned Babyface
John Cena’s babyface turn at SummerSlam 2025 was one that fans had been waiting for.
Analysts and experts of the industry had already claimed that The Champ would turn babyface ahead of his retirement in December 2025. However, no one was able to grasp the timeline until Cody Rhodes demanded the good guy John Cena.
At SummerSlam, The American Nightmare dethroned The Champ, and Cena embraced him and endorsed him. This truly marked the moment when he passed the torch to Cody Rhodes.
Booker T explained why John Cena turned babyface
On the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T claimed that The Champ is not a heel, and he wasn’t playing a good one. It was important to turn him babyface and get things back on track ahead of his retirement.
I really think this [Brock Lesnar’s return] is all about John Cena not being a heel. I said this. I said, ‘John Cena is not a heel.’ He can’t even play a good heel. He tries to make his face look like he’s mad. And you know it’s not real. You know there is nowhere near, that’s not him. So I thought the babyface turn was John Cena just saying, ‘Hey man, listen let’s just course correct, and get back on pace. We know Brock Lesnar is coming back. I’ll be able to do something with that on the way out.
The WWE Universe is yet to see how the story between Cena and Brock Lesnar unfolds.
