WWE Hall Of Famer Remembers Telling Vince McMahon The One Thing They Wouldn't Do

WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff shared a pivotal moment in his career, revealing how a single phone call with Vince McMahon led to his surprising decision to join WWE.

Once a fierce rival as the president of WCW, Eric Bischoff discussed this career-altering conversation on his podcast, “83 Weeks.” The call stood out to Bischoff not just for its content but for Vince McMahon’s demeanour. Bischoff, who had long seen McMahon as a competitor, was struck by his unexpected graciousness. He recounted:

But when Vince was so gracious and I use the word elegance because that’s really what it was, I knew as soon as he finished, okay f**k it, I’m going to work for this guy.

Interestingly, the conversation wasn’t focused on traditional business topics like money or ideas. Bischoff explained:

We didn’t even talk about ideas or money or anything. I knew right then I was going to go to work for him and we talked a little bit more.

McMahon did ask one critical question, though.

The one thing he did ask me. He said ‘Is there anything you won’t do?’

Bischoff, eager to be transparent, replied:

Well Vince, to tell you the truth, the only thing I won’t do is move to Connecticut.

Looking back on that moment with humour, Bischoff speculated that McMahon probably thought:

You f**king clown, I wouldn’t ask you to move to Stamford anyway.

Despite this, McMahon remained smooth and composed, simply responding with a chuckle:

Great, well let’s put the wheels in motion.

This conversation marked the beginning of Bischoff’s unexpected journey with WWE.

Which WWE Hall Of Famer Said They Are Grateful To Vince McMahon For Their Career?

WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase said that he is grateful to Vince McMahon for his career despite the ongoing controversy and legal battle over alleged sex trafficking. DiBiase said that he wasn’t sure if the upcoming Mr. McMahon Netflix docuseries would paint the former WWE Chairman in a good light or not but he did have to credit him for the success he has had in the wrestling business.
