WWE Hall Of Famer Priced Himself Out Of Spot In The NWO

NWO WWE

One WWE Hall of Famer has revealed that his price was too high for the NWO and named the wrestling star who took his spot in the group.

The NWO is one of the most iconic groups in wrestling history, forming in 1996 when Hulk Hogan did the unthinkable and turned heel in WCW to join up with The Outsiders, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall.

That trio were soon joined by a seemingly never-ending succession of talent, including The Giant, Ted DiBiase, and Randy Savage. However, as the ranks swelled, it diluted the success and impact that the NWO had.

And it seems, WCW just couldn’t afford one WWE Hall of Famer to join the group.

The Godfather Stayed With WWE

Speaking on The Velvet Ropes with So Cal Val, The Godfather explained that he almost jumped ship from WWE to WCW, where he’d have joined the NWO. Instead, his price was just too high, and his spot in the group went to Virgil:

The only time that I was going to [leave]… I was supposed to join the nWo. I was resigning as The Godfather… we worked out a three-year deal. I’m waiting for the contract to come… They’re not calling me back. Then I look up and I see Virgil. Well, I was supposed to be a bodyguard for the first year… and so they decided to go with Virgil instead of me. My price was way higher than Virgil’s. I think they just didn’t want to pay me that much money… but Virgil took it.
