WWE Hall Of Famer Believes NXT Is A Hotter Brand Than AEW
WWE NXT is outperforming AEW.
On Wednesday, November 6th, NXT went head-to-head with AEW Dynamite to avoid a clash with the US election. WWE’s third brand came live from the ECW Arena and featured several ECW legends such as Rob Van Dam, Bubba Ray Dudley, Francine, Dawn Marie, and Nunzio.
During the clash, NXT drew an average of 619,000 viewers, scoring a 0.17 rating in the 18-49-year-old demographic. By contrast, AEW Dynamite pulled in 523,000 viewers with a 0.16 rating in the key demographic.
This marked the third time in a row Dynamite had lost out to NXT in a head-to-head, this was despite WWE’s third brand moving from its regular night.
WWE Hall Of Famer Dismisses AEW
During an episode of his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff gave his thoughts on the head-to-head and claimed the results shouldn’t really be a surprise. Bischoff said NXT is simply a hotter brand than AEW at the present moment and that’s what played out in the ratings.
“I’m not surprised when I read the ratings at all. NXT is a hotter brand, it’s just that simple, so I wasn’t surprised at the outcome in terms of the ratings … I did not get a chance to see it but heard a lot about it, read a lot about it. Congratulations to NXT.”
Despite this, it was reported by Fightful Select that those backstage in AEW are unconcerned by the defeat, noting fans pay more attention to these things than anyone else. The report added that Warner Bros Discover tends to be more worried about where AEW programming ranked on cable, rather than total viewership.
