A WWE Hall of Famer that had a very successful career is content with not being on television regularly.

There are some wrestlers that crave the spotlight during their run as an active competitor and can’t seem to let it go when they retire. However, one man that’s content with being out of the spotlight at this point in his career is two-time WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels.

In his current role as WWE’s Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative, Shawn Michaels is the head booker in charge of the WWE NXT brand.

For the most part, Michaels isn’t used for storylines in NXT unless they need him to announce some sort of decision.

Going into this year’s Stand & Deliver Premium Live Event, Michaels was used in a storyline to set up the Grayson Waller-Johnny Gargano match because Waller was against Michaels as the authority figure.

While speaking to Ariel Helwani of BT Sport, Michaels made it a point to say he’s not a fan of being on TV anymore and prefers his current behind-the-scenes role.

“I’m not a big fan of being on TV, I love being behind the scenes. For Stand & Deliver, for this push, and for some of the stories, we felt like it worked. But I’d rather keep that few and far between if I can.”

The next NXT Premium Live Event is called NXT Battleground on May 28th, which is the same day as AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view. Michaels said that WWE likes to run shows on holidays, which is why it’s taking place on that day rather than the company wanting to compete against AEW head-to-head.
