WWE Hall Of Famer Names Ric Flair The Greatest World Champion In Wrestling History

WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Morton has shared his thoughts on who he believes holds the title of the greatest world champion in wrestling history.

Appearing on The Five Star Wrestling Podcast, Morton didn’t miss a beat in singling out Ric Flair as his number-one choice.

“Ric Flair was the greatest world champion ever.”

Morton stated confidently during the interview. While acknowledging Flair’s legendary career, Morton emphasised that his reasoning wasn’t solely based on Flair’s in-ring technical skills. Instead, he highlighted the 16-time world champion’s relentless dedication to entertaining fans night after night.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that he was the best worker, but when you paid to see him, he gave you your money’s worth. If you didn’t go an hour, you went 58 minutes—that was just him. We did this every night. He was the greatest world champion ever just for that, just for making sure he never disappointed the fans.”

Ric Flair’s illustrious career spanned decades and multiple promotions, including the NWA, WCW, and WWE, where he secured a record-tying 16 officially recognised world championships—a milestone he shares with John Cena.

What Did Ric Flair Say About Potentially Having One More Match?

Ric Flair addressed wanting to have a match during Sting’s retirement tour for AEW and said that there were talks about him being involved in Sting’s final match at Revolution, but Flair said that Tony Khan discovered that he was on blood thinning medication and became worried that Flair could have complications during a potential match as a result of being on the medication so he was only allowed to be involved briefly during the match. Flair was then asked if he’d consider having one more final match and replied, “Hell yeah, I do.”
