WWE Hall Of Famer Dealing With Injury As In-Ring Return Nears
A WWE Hall of Famer has lifted the lid on preparations for their retirement match.
In November, it was announced that Goldberg would be getting in the ring one last time in 2025. The star has previously claimed he was denied a retirement match by Vince McMahon but remains determined to go out on his own terms.
The news came after the veteran got into a confrontation with Gunther at Bad Blood.
There had been reports the former WCW Champion would be on Raw in Atlanta on January 27, but the show came and went without him.
Goldberg hasn’t wrestled since being defeated by Roman Reigns in February 2022 but has repeatedly insisted he isn’t retired.
Goldberg Preparing For WWE Goodbye
During an episode of his CarCast podcast, Goldberg gave fans an update on how training is going and how he feels about getting in ring shape one more time. The star explained that his shoulder is still “pretty screwed up,” but he’s heading for stem cell treatment to try and fix the problem.
“I’m thinking, ‘I’m doing all of this shit for one night.’ I’m literally busting my ass. I’m up here in the garage, in the gym, every night. Granted, I don’t work out like I used to. It’s a 45-minute Jack LaLanne workout as opposed to the whole Goldberg days. I stretch for 45 minutes. I used to only stretch for ten (minutes), but now I have to stretch for an hour and ten because I’m so ancient.
I have to crawl before I run. We all know I have a pretty screwed up shoulder. That’s my biggest concern getting into this retirement match. I remember six months ago, I couldn’t do anything. It’s all you baby steps. I have a decent amount of time to prep.
The reality is, I could train as hard as I could up until a couple of weeks from now, and then I embark upon a journey to try and kickstart myself to get in the best shape possible, try to rehab as much as possible, so I can have a good base to build on. I’m going to go get stem cells.”
The Hall of Famer added that he’ll be heading to the BioXcellerator clinic in Colombia, which describes itself as “A world leader in stem cell therapy and regenerative medicine.” The facility has been used by the likes of Diamond Dallas Page, Bobby Lashley, and Kevin Nash in the past.
Following an MRI scan, the former World Champion said he’ll be getting the treatment on his knee, shoulder, and neck, adding he won’t be able to train for two or three weeks immediately afterward.
