WWE Hall Of Famer Claims Negative Hulk Hogan Reaction A One Off

Hulk Hogan

Hall of Famer links Hulk Hogan backlash to politics.

During Monday Night Raw’s debut on Netflix, Hulk Hogan was given a hostile reception by a packed crowd at the Inuit Dome, and there was little sympathy for him on social media.

In recent years the reaction to Hogan’s appearances has been increasingly negative with fans often citing his history of racism, alleged lack of an apology for those actions, and very public support of controversial United States President Donald Trump.

Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff — a noted friend of Hogan, said the veteran remains as popular as ever, despite the backlash to his appearance on Raw.

“It’s just another one of those things where people are going to fall down on one or the other side of the fence, depending on what their pre-determined perspectives already are,” Bischoff said.

“Debating it doesn’t really matter but he’s drawing massive crowds everywhere else. He’s out promoting his beer and thousands of people are standing outside in the cold waiting for an opportunity to meet him.

Bischoff went on to say that he believes the reaction is a one-off and stems from Los Angeles being a very liberal city.

“I think that was a one-off. I’m convinced of it. Anybody that hasn’t spent any real time in LA and in the working environment, you don’t realize how oppressive, overwhelmingly liberal — and I’m not saying it’s good or bad, I’m not taking sides, it just is what it is folks, and that large segment of LA, their politics have become their religion, and they get really, really invested.

So, I’m convinced that was it,”

Hulk Hogan Set For Saturday Night’s Main Event

Despite the backlash, Hulk Hogan is expected to feature at Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 25th. This led to speculation that fellow Hall of Famer Jesse Ventura could miss the show given the well-documented ill-feeling between the two.

Ventura only returned to WWE in late 2024 after signing a Legends deal. The legend later made his on-screen return during the re-booted Saturday Night’s Main Event where he appeared throughout the show, and worked as a guest announcer during the main event.

However, according to the latest update on the situation, both Hulk Hogan and Jesse Ventura will be at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Given the taping is taking place in San Antonio, Texas, there’s been several rumours that Shawn Michaels will also be involved in some capacity.
