WWE Hall Of Famer Discusses Hulk Hogan’s Support Of Donald Trump

WWE Hall Of Famer Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura is not surprised by Hulk Hogan’s support of Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump.

‘The Hulkster’ made international news on the 19th July when he appeared at the Republican National Conference to deliver a trademark wild speech in support of Trump and his campaign to be re-elected into the White House in November.

Ventura himself has flirted with the idea of running for the US Presidency in the past two decades but has been highly outspoken of both main US political parties and would be unlikely to secure enough national support as an independent candidate to justify adding his name to the ballot.

Discussing Hogan’s appearance at the Republican National Conference during a recent interview with MSNBC, Ventura noted his lack of surprise at Hogan’s preferred choice of candidate, labelling the former WWE Champion as ‘anti-union’:

“As far as Hogan goes, it doesn’t surprise me because when I was in wrestling in the ’80s, I tried to unionize wrestling, and it was Hulk Hogan who cut my legs out from under me. Hulk Hogan went to Vince McMahon, ratted me out, and subsequently, later on, cost me my job.

So it doesn’t surprise me to see Hogan with the Republicans because Hogan is as anti-union as you can get. There still is not a union in professional wrestling.”

The former Minnesota Governor explained his reasoning for attempting to start a union backstage and went on to claim that Hogan’s decision to warn Vince McMahon of the plans ultimately led to his departure from WWE:

“I was in an elevator and ran into Gene Upshaw, the great tackle guard from the Oakland Raiders. And big Gene raised his finger up and looked at me and says, ‘You guys, you boys, need to form a union.’

I tried to do it, and it was Hulk Hogan who ratted me out to Vince McMahon, and subsequently I was fired.”

WWE Faction Handed Name Inspired By Hulk Hogan

Despite having wrestled his last WWE match against Randy Orton at SummerSlam 2006, Hulk Hogan remains an influence on the modern product, with one new WWE faction the latest to be inspired by the career of Hogan.

Whilst it hasn’t been acknowledged publicly, the newly formed group of Chad Gable and The Creed Brothers have been labelled as ‘American Made’, a nod to ‘The Hulkster’s’ famous WCW theme tune.
