WWE Hall Of Famer Denies They’re Working For The Company
A WWE Hall of Famer isn’t working for the company.
Pro wrestling fans love a strange rumour, and there have been few stranger in recent months than claims Mick Foley is working secretly as a WWE ambassador. Not only that, the theory goes that he’s being paid a staggering $2.8 million per year in the role.
But unsurprisingly, it seems the speculation is wide of the mark.
During an interview on The Wrestling Classic, Foley denied he was working for WWE as an ambassador and making millions of dollars per year in the process. Although he did confirm he’s still signed to a Legends deal.
“I don’t have an ambassador job that pays me $2.88 million, as has been reported. I had an ambassador job for two years that paid me literally one-fourteenth of that, but it’s been rumored that I have this luxurious job, and I’m like, I don’t think I’d be out on the road 200 days a year if I was making $2.88 million a year to be an ambassador.
If somebody else has that type of job, good on them, but I just want to put out, like, I love my relationship with WWE, right? I did an appearance for them at Royal Rumble, a signing.
I’m doing an appearance for them at.. what the new version of Axxess is, and I have a Legends deal that, because WWE has seen fit to promote me as somebody of importance, is better than it was 20 years ago, which is crazy.
So I’m really grateful for that relationship, but I don’t receive $2.88 million. I receive $0 because I’m not an ambassador. In some ways, I always will be. Anywhere I walk, I’m kind of a walking billboard for WWE, but I just want to clear that up as an exclusive. I do not have any ambassador contract, let alone an ambassador contract for $2.88 million a year.”
Mick Foley Discussed Retirement Match With WWE & AEW Stars
During the same interview, Mick Foley revealed that he had a secret meeting with MJF while trying to get back in the ring one more time. The veteran had hoped to have a retirement match to celebrate his 60th birthday, and he quickly began trying to get back into wrestling shape.
However, while training, he suffered a concussion and ultimately decided against making a comeback.
Foley noted that aside from discussing a match with MJF, he was also approached by Karrion Kross, among others.
The WWE Hall of Famer hasn’t wrestled since making a cameo in the 2012 Royal Rumble match, and hasn’t competed in a singles match since losing to Ric Flair in a Last Man Standing Match with TNA back in 2010.
