WWE Hall Of Famer Declares Alberto Del Rio The “Best Wrestler In The World Today”

WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield has named former WWE star Alberto Del Rio as the best wrestler in the world today, praising his unmatched skill and in-ring intelligence.

Speaking on the Something To Wrestle podcast, JBL reflected on Alberto Del Rio’s talent, calling him the most complete performer he has ever witnessed in the ring. With more than three decades of experience as both a competitor and commentator, JBL firmly believes Del Rio stands above the rest.

“I think that Alberto El Patron is the best wrestler in the world today, not in Mexico, not just as a heel, the best wrestler in the world today,” he said. “I’ve been in the business for 30-something years; I’ve seen them all and wrestled them all. I called most of his matches in WWE, and I don’t know when I’ve ever seen anybody more on top of his game.”

JBL went on to highlight Del Rio’s in-ring awareness, describing him as a true “ring general” who possesses an elite understanding of professional wrestling.

“I’ve never seen anybody better; he’s a ring general like you wouldn’t believe, and he is absolutely on top of his game,” he added. “You’ve got to see him wrestle, he’s that freaking good right now.”

A four-time world champion in WWE, Del Rio last wrestled for the company in 2014 before being released on August 7 of that year. His departure came after an altercation with an employee who had allegedly made a racist remark. Despite his exit, Del Rio remains a controversial yet highly skilled figure in the wrestling world.
