WWE Hall Of Famer Critical Of Recent Raw Creative

Triple H WWE

Not everyone is happy with WWE Raw.

On the September 23rd episode of Monday Night Raw, Jey Uso defeated Bron Breakker to a monster ovation, winning the Intercontinental Title in the process. The star’s popularity has exploded over the last 12 months and the victory was seen as the perfect reward for his hard work.

However, less than a month later Jey lost the gold back to Breakker in controversial circumstances. The match featured interference from The Bloodline after Jey upset Solo Sikoa on SmackDown, and Jacob Fatu battered Jey while enjoying a tense staredown with Breakker.

When all was said and done Jey was hit with a Samoan Drop from Fatu and a Spear from Breakker as he lost the title.

WWE Hall Of Famer Critical Of Jey Uso Loss

Speaking on the latest episode of his Off The Top podcast, Rikishi said it was too soon for WWE to take the title off Jey. The veteran denied his comments were because Jey’s his son, instead he said that from a promotional point of view, it makes more sense for the “Yeet Man” to be champion.

“I think it was too soon. If I’m the promoter, I’m only gonna go speak business wise, you know, finally Jey had gotten his flowers with the belt that he so rightfully earned and deserved it.

Now we got it on this kid here. He’s well over. Now this character, this Yeet man, is through the roof as far as notoriety. Probably selling the number one hottest merchandise, if not close to OTC, maybe surpassed it. Now you see the different sides of the merchandise. He’s got merchandise with every city he goes to. Here’s a Yeet T-Shirt for Philadelphia. There’s a Yeet T-shirt for New York.

So, you know, from a marketing standpoint, you’re only going to do even more, better, good business if you leave that on this kid. I’m not saying that because he’s my boy. I’m not saying that. I’m speaking as a promoter now, because at the end of the day, this is what it’s about. It’s about numbers. It’s about revenues.”

It was reported after Raw that WWE creative feels they’ve “stumbled onto something big” with Breakker and Fatu. Those backstage were said to be surprised by the huge reaction to the staredown between the pair. Despite this, there are no immediate plans for them to work together.

Although he’s now without the Intercontinental Title, Jey Uso reunited with his brother Jimmy on the October 25th episode of SmackDown. The move solidifies the opposition to Solo Sikoa’s new Bloodline with the former tag team champions backing up Roman Reigns.
