WWE Hall Of Famer Critical Of AEW
WWE Hall Of Famer Scott Steiner believes AEW needs to increase it’s focus on story telling.
The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion enjoyed a decorated in-ring career spanning nearly 35 years, with the Michigan native achieving outstanding success in WCW, WWE and Impact Wrestling.
Steiner was rewarded for his contribution to the business with an induction into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2022, with the 61 year-old honoured alongside his brother and long-time tag team partner Rick Steiner.
Given his longevity in wrestling, Steiner is well placed to comment on the current state of the business and he believes that one top US promotion could be improved in one key area.
Speaking during a recent appearance on WrestleBinge, Steiner highlighted that competition for WWE for a positive thing whilst also criticising AEW for a lack of storylines:
“It’s great for another place for the guys to work. Competition’s always good for the business. But there’s no doubt that WWE is hot right now. They got the fan interest. That’s what’s most important.
The thing is, you just can’t have matches. Nobody gives a shit if they’re just matches with no storyline. You’re throwing two guys together, it doesn’t work.”
