Why WWE Hall Of Famer Wants Cody Rhodes To Beat John Cena

John Cena WWE Raw Promo

John Cena needs to lose at WrestleMania according to a former World Champion.

At WrestleMania 41, John Cena will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship in a match given extra spice by the veteran’s heel turn.

While the involvement of The Rock remains a mystery, Cena has continually blamed fans for his recent actions and berated Rhodes for his embrace of mediocrity. In another layer to the story, Cena has announced he’ll retire at the end of the year, meaning he could eventually retire as champion.

However, despite their recent issues, Cody Rhodes believes John Cena should be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as soon as he hangs up his boots.

John Cena Should Beat Cody Rhodes

During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Ric Flair gave his thoughts on the upcoming contest and suggested Rhodes should retain the title as he’s “on a roll.” While elaborating further Flair said that he doesn’t believe Cena wants to retire as champion, and is instead determined to do what’s best for business.

“To be honest with you, I don’t think John wants to retire with the title. John is a company guy. He wants what’s best for business.”

Should Cena beat Rhodes he’ll surpass Flair on the all-time list and become a 17-time World Champion, an honor the Nature Boy has often said he wants to go to his daughter Charlotte.

While discussing the industry more widely, Flair said the rise of AEW has been key, although his deal with the company limits his ability to be involved in WWE events.

“I’m happy for everybody. It’s going to be a great show. I’m glad there’s two companies because that’s more opportunities for guys to work. But it’s very difficult for me to participate in the activities while I’m working for Tony [Khan], and Tony, make no mistake about it, is the greatest guy in the world…”

During the same interview, Ric Flair gave his thoughts on the controversial segment between Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair. The Hall of Famer suggested there was a “sensitive” situation, and he was less than impressed that his name was brought up in the promo.
