WWE Hall Of Famer Claims AEW Is A “Retirement Spot”
A WWE Hall of Famer has given their blunt assessment of AEW.
One of the biggest talking points in pro wrestling as 2025 comes to a close is the future of Chris Jericho. While Jericho has been a key figure in AEW both in front of the camera and behind the scenes, he’s been widely tipped to return to WWE.
Jericho’s AEW contract expires in December, which, in theory, leaves the way clear for a WWE return at the Royal Rumble in early 2026.
However, not everyone thinks he’ll be back with his former employer.
On the latest episode of his Hall Of Fame podcast, Booker T suggested that Jericho could stay in AEW once All Elite, wrestlers can get paid a lot of money for very little work. Booker went on to describe the company as a “retirement spot,” and it’s what he’d been planning if he were still wrestling.
“I wish they had AEW around when I was doing this thing. I would have just camped out. Made me a little tent. I would have been going nowhere, man. I’m serious. They pay you not to work in AEW.
It’s a safe haven. It’s definitely a retirement spot, if you’re definitely looking to wrap this up in the right way. I get it, man. I get it. Seriously.”
Booker cited Ric Flair, who remains under an AEW contract but rarely appears on television or attends tapings.
“Ric Flair is still under contract [with AEW] from what I’ve been hearing. What has he done? What has Ric Flair done for AEW?”
Booker T Critical Of WWE Legend
On an earlier episode of the podcast, Booker T criticised Bret Hart for his recent comments about several current and former wrestlers.
During an interview, Hart threw a now customary jab at Goldberg, calling out Sheamus for not being able to throw a proper punch, while calling Hulk Hogan and Jake Roberts “pieces of sh*t.” Hart’s issues with Hogan and Roberts stem from his feeling that neither man did anything to try to elevate the next generation of talent during their in-ring careers.
He also insinuated that Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels had a sexual relationship.
