WWE Hall Of Famer Basks In Beautiful John Cena Moment

John Cena at WWE Elimination Chamber

John Cena’s heel turn was a home run with one WWE Hall of Famer.

In a move that seemed impossible when he began his retirement tour in January, John Cena is now officially a heel.

After securing a remarkable win inside the Elimination Chamber to earn a shot at winning a record-breaking 17th World Championship at WrestleMania, Cena shocked the world. At the behest of The Rock, Cena flattened Cody Rhodes with a vicious low blow before leaving the champion a bloody mess, and the crowd stunned.

The twist has been met with near-universal acclaim from fans and critics, and Eric Bischoff has become the latest name to heap praise on the action.

Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff gave his thoughts on Cena’s heel turn and how it played it. The WWE Hall of Famer described the angle as “beautiful” before crediting all involved for their work in putting it together.

“I thought it was beautiful. The turn itself, everything leading up to the turn… I really admired the way the whole thing played out, it was done almost theatrically, and in fact not almost, it was done theatrically in a way that you would expect to see in a movie set… the scene played out so well because it was so well written and conceived and it had a substantial amount of nuance to it.

Body language, eyes, head turns, so many little details.

Overall I would say 10 out of 10, kudos to the writers, to the producers, to the talent, who is clearly working very closely with the directors… it was really well done.”

WWE Changed John Cena Plan

Meanwhile, it’s been reported that The Rock initially wanted Cody Rhodes to turn heel instead of Cena. However, Rhodes turned the pitch down, and the idea was passed to Cena, who quickly agreed.

There were also claims that the decision to run with the heel turn was only taken on the day of Elimination Chamber. This report suggested Cena was meant to turn heel at WrestleMania, but plans were brought forward. However, The Rock’s camp has denied changing the timeline.
