WWE Hall Of Famer Spent 98% Of Their Career Injured
A former WWE Champion has made a surprising admission about their time in the ring.
Although he wasn’t initially enthusiastic about a career in pro wrestling, after making his WWE debut in 1999, Kurt Angle quickly established himself as one of the best in the world. It took Angle just a year to win his first World Championship, and by the time he left the company in 2006, he was already a legend.
By the time of his exit, Angle was deep in the throes of addiction and he battled personal demons for several more years while with TNA. Eventually, Angle returned to WWE in 2017 before wrestling his last match against Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35 two years later.
Interestingly, Kurt Angle believes his lacklustre final run with WWE was due to Vince McMahon wanting to teach him a lesson.
Kurt Angle Battled Injury For Much Of His WWE Career
It’s no secret that Angle struggled with injuries for much of his wrestling career, with the star suffering a broken neck prior to winning Olympic gold. However, during an appearance on NotSam Wrestling, Angle hinted at just how bad his injury problems were, revealing he was injured for 98% of his career.
“The beautiful thing about WWE is, and I’m not saying that what I did was right, but you could work around your injuries. So you know your capabilities. If your neck is broken, you know what you can do and what you can’t do, and you try to stay away from the things that you can’t.
That’s the cool thing about WWE. I was injured 98% of my career. I was always hobbled with an injury. I always had to work around them. So I was able to do that.
Not that I wasn’t taking a chance because when you have a broken neck and you’re wrestling, you land on your neck wrong one more time, and you’re gonna be paralyzed. That’s what the doctors were telling me. Just do not land on your head. They said, ‘You do that, you’re most likely either gonna be paralyzed or you’ll be dead,'”
